The Kent Group are not undertaking any specific projects at present. We have completed a minor reconstruction project - an ex-Woody Bay platform trolley, found in use in a local garage, which was restored to almost as-new condition - possibly the first heritage vehicle to return to the Lynton and Barnstaple. We have also prepared over 200 wooden seat slats from the ex-Thorpe Park coaches, which where stripped of the old varnish, stained and two coats of varnish applied. These are now seeing revenue service at Woody Bay, seating passengers between Woody Bay and Killington Lane.
A minor project has also been the promotion of the L&B Project through articles in the Wikipedia on-line encyclopedia. We have established and enhanced a number of short articles related to the L&B, all linked to the main article, here. An important aspect of our work in Kent publicity and fundraising through attending model and prototype railway shows in and around the county. The group has had some success in this area, and have been able to send several hundreds of pounds to North Devon each year.
The Trust has been concentrating effort on the restoration of Axe, which will need about £50,000 to complete. The Kent Committee fully support this project, and the majority of the funds we raise are going to the restoration.
